In a word...Awful!
Some nights you have it, and other nights you don't. Well, as the title indicates, this was definitely one of the nights where I just didn't have it. My focus was bad, my execution was worse, and my pin carry suffered because of it. Simply put, this was just a brutal night of bowling for me.
Game 1
X 9/ 7/ 9/ 9/ X 6/ 81 9/ X9/ - 182
After striking a lot in practice I felt like I had the ball (Nirvana) and line that I would need in order to get out of the gate quickly. Sadly, I just didn't execute good shots, I was falling off at the foul line, my feel was terrible, and I just wasn't getting the ball off of my hand cleanly. I managed to stay clean early on, but I dropped my attempted 6-10 conversion in the eight, which led to a chop. I stayed clean from there, but the damage was done with a 182, which is my lowest game to date this season.
Game 2
8/ X 9/ X X 9/ 53 X 8/ 9/X - 191
Realizing that I just wasn't going to throw the Nirvana properly, I balled down to my Melee Jab. The ball was great, but, again, I wasn't. I came out with strikes in three of the first five frames, but then I stoned a 9-pin in the sixth and followed it up with a Greek church in the seventh. I stayed clean the rest of the way, but the open derailed me and helped me setting in with 191.
Game 3
8/ X 8/ 9/ 9- X X 9/ X 9/9 - 195
On the bright side, I managed to get the Melee Jab to the pocket much more often this game. On the downside, my release was terrible, and that caused the ball to hit very weakly, resulting in four 10-pins, one of which I flagged.
There really isn't much to be said about this night. I threw the ball badly, and I got the bad results I deserved to go along with it. Obviously, I'm disappointed, but there is no sense dwelling on it. I need to get back to work on my fundamentals and go back to looking at the process (how I threw the shot) rather than the result (how many pins I knocked down). If I can do that, I have no doubt the scores will get back up where they should be.
