League Night - NSAC - Victory Lanes - Kankakee, Illinois

If every week went as smoothly as this one did, I'd be a very contented bowler!

Game 1

8/ 81 9/ 9/ X X X X X X9/ - 235

Sometimes I just want to punch myself in the throat! You'd think 15 minutes of practice would show me that the lanes were hooking a bit more than usual, which would force me to start a bit deeper. Nope, not this guy! Instead, I tried starting out in the same place (27-28) with the same ball (Mastermind Genius) from the previous two weeks. Well, that brilliant move led to four consecutive shots through the face, which resulted in a 3-6, a chopped 3-10, and a pair of 6-pins. At that point, I finall realized that maybe it would be a good idea to move, so I jumped a few boards left to 30. Voila! I proceeded to smash the next six in a row before a solid 8-pin stopped the run and turned a possible 246 into a respectable 235.

Game 2

X 9/ X X 9/ 9/ X X X X6/ - 234

The Genius was still looking good, but I could tell things were continuing to dry out. As such, I moved in a few boards more to 33, going strike, half ten, double, ring 10, weak 10. Realizing that the Genius was starting to bleed a bit too much energy playing that type of line, I switched to the Melee Jab and proceeded to strike in the 7th, 8th, 9th, and 10th. I missed the 11th ball at the bottom, causing it to skid past the break point and leave me with a bucket, which I converted, giving me 234.

Game 3

9/ 9/ X X 81 X X 8/ X XXX - 223

This game really could've been so much more. I made three bad shots, coming through the face in the 2nd, 5th, and 8th. I was fortunate enough to leave simple spares in all three cases. I was unfortunate in the 5th, however, when my plastic ball somehow managed to take the 6-pin off of the 10 despite the fact that it was thrown hard and straight and was still moving from left to right at the pins. On the bright side, if I reall think about it, it's harder to chop that leave in the manner I did than it is to make it, so I guess I just have to laugh it off.

All in all, this was another very solid outing. I was in tune with that lanes were doing, and I put the right balls in play at the right times in order to help me take advantage of it. The final pin count could've been higher, but it was still nothing to be upset about. We'll see if we can crack that big set next week!
