Project Two-Hands
For those who are unfamiliar, Project Two Hands was a USBC Coaching project that I entered into with USBC Gold Coach Bryan O'Keefe and former USBC Strength and Conditioning Specialist Nick Bohanon. The idea was to study whether or not a traditional bowler could learn and properly execute the two-handed style.
We conducted this project over the course of a year. The first major event I bowled was the 2009 USBC Open Championships. During that event, I shot 440-579-529 for a 1,548 all-events total, which translated to a 172 average. After one year of two-handed bowling, I averaged 21 pins higher at the 2010 Open Championships, shooting 543-560-637 for a 1,740 all-events total.
In the end, I chose to go back to one-handed bowling, but I will never forget all of the awesome things I was exposed to during my year in the two-handed realm. During that time, as these videos will show, I had the opportunity to work 1-on-1 with the guru of two-handed bowling, PBA superstar Jason Belmonte, and many other amazing coaches and players. Even though I chose not to stick with two-handed long term, the time I spent experimenting with it really opened my eyes to the amazing possibilities that style has to offer! I hope you enjoy this collection of videos!
